My hometown. I fuckin’ love it. Even if iStar has been aggressively gentrifying the shit out of it.

My cousin lives in Oakhurst, and I spent a lot of my summers in that area. It’s changed a lot, especially after Sandy. Nothing quite like eating ice cream on the shore in summertime.

No shit? I grew up right on Sunset A ve in Wanamassa, and know Oakhurst VERY well. If you ever find yourself up this way again, I have a standing offer of a free lunch to any oppo who comes from out of state. So far the only oppo to take me up on it is JQJ.   I love being from here, and it brings me great joy to share the food, fun, and history of the Monmouth County shore to anyone who feels like listening.

I’ll hit you up the next time I’m out that way. I have aunts, uncles and cousins all over that area.  My mom and dad both grew up in Monmouth County, so I might have some stories to add.

And I’d love to hear them. Ever since I was a toddler , my grandmother and grandfather would take me to all sorts of historical sites and museums  on “day trips”, and those trips really awaken an insatiable hunger for knowledge of all of the places and things around me that persists to this day.
